I am following any possible leads since my information is so iffy. I have been told that some criminals ended up in Nova Scotia & the Islands during the mid 1800's and am checking this out. Wonder if a family's "social standing" had any influence where you ended up, or if he did go to Australia and served his time, or if he was on the run after being charged, or this is all pure fiction. He didn't end up in Canada until he was in his forties. This leaves a lot of time unaccounted for. It seems as if what would be called as a "crime against the realm" is a wide catagory. I will at least end up with a better knowledge of history from trying to solve this puzzle. I'll look up the Fenians on the web. I actually haven't heard the term Fenians before. Learning more every day. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. I've also found a Clement Dytor born 1858, 3rd quarter, registered at Wellington, Shropshire 6a 678. High Ercall would have come under Wellington for registrations. Is this a much younger brother to Elizabeth whose parents were Abraham and Mary Dytor? Or....Elizabeth's son?? I know you have a copy of your Clement's birth cert though. I've also checked Beighterton. These days, there's a Beighterton Farm House, plus up the road is Lower Beighterton, both on the road between Weston under Lizard and Blymhill. Yes. you're correct, in the district of Shifnal. I drive through Shifnal every day! Jenni Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. I have Elizabeth Dytor on 1851 living with parents at Poynton, Shropshire. I also have a copy of 1851 showing George's parents (George and Mary) living Gimsbury, Northants, there is a George living with them but his age is given as 13 so I dont think it is my George (christened 1834). I am hoping to get a look up on the 1851 to see if I can locate him either in Northants or maybe in Shropshire as I cannot as yet work out how he met Elizabeth Dytor. I have George Bagley on Census 1861 thru to 1901 and he is fairly consistent with age which works out at him being born 1832. The IGI shows that George and Mary Bagley had 15(!)children and to complicate matters further there are three Georges, all assigned to George and Mary, one christened 1828, second 1834 (my George I think) and third one chr. 1838. The 1838 George is the one living with parents on the 1851 aged 13. Ah what a tangled web... Thank you again. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. 1. [ENG-SHROP] BATHURST GLAZEBROOK PALMER PARKER POOLE TOMLINS of Ironbridge
    2. RPOOLE
    3. For recently joined folk, I'm interested in these familes, especially from the early 19th century. Other details can be found in the rootsweb archives. Pooles had the grey Ladywood 'Station hotel', and 'Bath Tavern' now a private house in Bath Lane. One was the Town Crier, others were china painters and hairdressers, and later butchers and bakers in Dawley. Bathursts had the Benthall Pottery. Glazebrooks had a grocery store and Steam engine patents. Tomlins had a motor garage in the present 'Museum of the Gorge' on the Severn edge. Merry Xmas, Richard Poole

If so, by using a plus/minus 1 years entry for a birth of 1889 minus 29=1860 the list is rather narrow. By a suggestion from your birth guess of 1855 I went to birth circa 1857 with the same math and came up with a Sarah A REEVES dau of Enoch and Sarah, age of 3 in 1861 census, Madeley, Shropshire. born there. Two other choices: Sarah born abt 1856 to William and Jane in albrighton, Shropshire and residing there, and Sarah born to Frances and Charlot born abt 1858 in Whixall, Shropshire and living there. If you want any of these read for family I would be happy to do so. This was not a soundex search; it was "exact"..........in spelling of REEVES. Perhaps you might check for JACKSON in the area of these three prospect up to the probable migration year if they actually might have came over at the same time on the same ship or something.......... The fact is I'm actually working on a lead that might not pan out. Family lore has James Jackson as being convicted of Crimes Against the Realm (actual crime unknown), losing his citizenship, being deported to Canada, and changing his name. Any one that knew the true family name is long gone. All I have been able to find is his probable marriage certificate. The marriage of James Jackson and Sarah Ann Reeves was in Ontario, Church of England, 18 Jul 1886. She lists her age as 29, parents as Thomas & Margaret, and place of birth as Shopshire England. The names/ages of this couple and his occupation match later census data in Ohio I am positive is accurate........I have tried to find a list of what is considered Crimes Against the Realm with little success. Any one know if these are political crimes? how common this charge is? It is also said that he offered my grandfather $10,000 to join the British forces at the start of WWI. George, Sarah and Abraham are all siblings of Elizabeth Dytor (my great grandmother). I have Elizabeth's birth cert but it is her marriage to George Bagley that I cannot trace. Their oldest son Clement Bagley was born in October 1859 so I am assuming that they married sometime between 1856-1859. Elizabeth was born High Ercall, Shrops and George was christened Banbury, Northants, however their eldest son Clement was born Tardebrigg sub-district, Bromsgrove, Worcs and his birth cert says mother's name Elizabeth Bagley, formerly Deyter. The next info I have on them is the 1861 which shows them, with son Clement, living at Beighterton, nr Weston under Lizard (in the District of Shiffnal I think). On the 1861 Elizabeth's parents and some other siblings are living at nearby Tong, Shropshire. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
