    3. Dear all, just putting some feelers out for any Diddlebury BOWENs. Namely anyone coming across EDWARD BOWEN marrying SARAH possibly around 1718 Their son (our link) Richard Bowen, was their first born 27 Jan 1719 and was followed by four other children; Mary (1822), Sarah (1823), Joseph (1826) and Elizabeth (1829). Richard later moved to Harley, marrying Ann Francis, having a son, Edward. I can not find any siblings for this Edward. I have a fair amount of information on my metal-bashing BOWENS of COALBROOKDALE and BIRMINGHAM including photographs and the occasional interesting story. Please feel free to contact me. 3. Georgina Hi, sorry its such a late reply but I'd moved your email into a different folder for follow up and you can probably guess wrong folder. I am interested in your Lloyd relatives in SAL, I have come up against a brick wall in Atcham in the late 1600's early 1700's, do you have any Lloyds in this area? Especially the marriage of Francis Lloyd to Anne, they lived in the Atcham area and Anne is believed to have come from Chilton just outside Atcham. I would appreciate any information of any Lloyd family in Shropshire who may be connected. In 1891 he had 6 brothers and 1 sister but I believe there were more children. His dad was Richard and his mother was Mary Ann (Challener?). Richard's parents were probably Edward and Mary Ann Hammond. I did find a record for a Keziah Hammonds in 1861 who was born in Shropshire, little Dawley. 2. Barbara Laver
    3. Thank you so much, Mike, for your suggestions.  I will look into all of them.  I was able to come close for a Thomas BROOKS/Elizabeth marriage.  Extracted records on the IGI show one Elizabeth DAVIES who married a Thomas BROOKS in 1806 in Owestry and another Elizabeth PEELE who married a Thomas BROOKS in Shrewsbury in 1811.  That's as close to home as I could find on the IGI site.   Now...to get busy with your other ideas....thank you again, Barbara

    1. Re: [ENG-SHROP] BROOKES/WILLIAMS in Bagley/Hordley area
    2. Michael J Hulme
    3. Hello Barbara There are three places (other than the actual parish registers) that you can search for the Marriage of Thomas BROOKES and Elizabeth {?}. They are:- The IGI http://www.familysearch.org - there is one slightly possible at Shrewsbury in 1811, plus see below Boyd's Marriage Index - this indexes marriages which appear in printed parish registers of Shropshire. This may be available through your local Mormon Family History Centre Shropshire Marriage Index on CD-ROM from Shropshire FHS http://www.sfhs.org.uk/sales_menu.asp - this is fairly new and has started by trying to index marriages which don't appear in the two sources above Presumably you have found Elizabeth in the census where she gives her place of birth as Bagley in 1851 and Hordley in 1861 and 1871 so normally we would expect her to marry in her local parish church but maybe she had other ideas for some reason. The IGI includes at least one possible at Manchester Cathedral in 1814, which might seem unlikely, but it is a known place of marriage for Shropshire people. Proving it is of course going to be much more difficult unless the original register has some clues but certainly worth checking. 1. Re: [ENG-SHROP] BROOKES/WILLIAMS in Bagley/Hordley area
    2. Hello Barbara, What a nice surprise to see a "neighbor" here... my REYNOLDS ancestors had land in Bagley up to the 1850's and there's a family tomb at Hordley cemetery. Have you been to Bagley? It's a small bunch of houses, so I'm sure your ancestors knew mine. I've looked up your BROOKES and WILLIAMS in the Hordley Bishop's Transcripts and found a baptism for Elizabeth, d. of Thos. & Elizabeth Brooks, on July 31st, 1814 - so they married much earlier than you thought. Six of their children were bap. at Hordley (see below). Also found four children of William and Margaret Brookes, and another four of John & Elizabeth Brookes, both of Bagley and shoemakers, so I guess they could be relatives of Thomas - younger brothers perhaps? Found seven children of Henry and Anne Williams. On Thomas & Elizabeth Brookes' marriage, I didn't find it in either the Bishops Transcript starting 1813 or the actual parish register starting 1813. On Tuesday I'm going to the library where they have the PR up to 1813 and I'll look there. Perhaps Elizabeth was from another parish and they married there and not in Hordley. The numbers at the end of the entries are my image numbers, let me know if you want them and I can send them to you. Best, Alejandro Milberg Boston, Mass.
