    3. Hello all Could anyone tell me where Strawberry Lane, Park, was situated? My g grandmother Sarah Staniforth was born there in 1845 and her family had been there from 1841 at least. I have searched through my old maps many times but must be missing it somehow. Thanks Marian E Smith

    3. Hello Marion, I've just had a look at my 1849 Sheffield Map and have found it, albeit named as Strawberry Hall Lane. Elaine was correct in saying that it was quite close to Park Grange Farm. I have just been comparing the old map with a current Sheffield Street Plan and the road used to run more or less parallel to the River Sheaf and part of what is now Queens Road would now cross over where the lane used to be. If you have a current Sheffield Street Map, look for Edmund Road and you will see a small road/lane running off it called Clough Bank, as you look at the map Strawberry Hill Lane was on the right side of Clough Bank running up towards the first part of Queens Road. The lane started at Hill Road (which itself was off Queens Road, this road no longer exists) and then ran to a dead end at Eastbank Cottage, it was at that time just a rural lane running through fields near to the River Sheaf. 3. Strawberry Hall Lane was still there in 1903. And, from studying the overhead satellite photos, it is now under the back gardens of houses on Priestley St, Store St, and directly under the buildings opposite the new B&Q depot. In fact, Strawberry Hall Lane would have met Queens Road just about opposite the entrance to the B&Q car park!
