An enormous "Thank you" to Hugh Waterhouse and Jeremy Crawshaw. They've solved the the question of Belfield House which has puzzled me for some years. I had searched for Belfield and Bellfield - but never thought to look for Bellefield. The Rev Mr Grindrod must be related to Sarah Grindrod. Emily Cussons' father was a Methodist Lay Preacher. She went on to marry Rev Thomas Fletcher a Primitive Methodist Minister and two of Emily and Thomas' daughters became Evangelists. I'm certain that Emilys parents would have insisted that she went to a school with a strong Methodist connection. Regards Joan (in Bucks) > My husbands great-grandmother Emily CUSSONS - born 1835 in Horncastle, > Lincs - went to school near Sheffield. > > The address of the school was BELFIELD HOUSE, Nr Sheffield. It was run > by Mrs Sarah Grindrod and the Misses Mainwaring. > > Does anybody know where the school was located? I've been searching on > and off for a few years but haven't been able to find it.
