Hi Marion Theres a photo of the old hostel at the corner of West Bar and Wheelhouse Lane on Sheffield Genealogy website at http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~engsheffield/photos/streets/streetrelated/vagshelter.htm As Richard suggests, I think it was used as a short stay homeless shelter at least in the late 1950 early part of 1960s If anyone can confirm what it was used for I'd appreciate the info for adding to the website photo.
