Hi Carol I think we may have been through this before but, just in case we didn't, the names of SORBY and NICHOLSON appear amongst the myriad of Sheffield relations of my wife, both mainline and way out to the left or right. SORBY I have this line way back to a ROBERT SAWREBYE married a MARGERY who 7 generations later have a THOMAS SORBY of Attercliffe, schoolmaster and later merchant who married MARTHA STANIFORTH. Their daughter ANN SORBY married in 1802 WILLIAM LOCKWOOD of Farm Bank, Sheffield, founder of the firm that was to become through his 4 sons, Lockwood Brothers. The grandson of the original ROBERT and MARGERY above is described as ROBERT SORSBY married CATHERINE CLAYTON 23 Oct 1597 and he was the first Master Cutler of Sheffield in 1624 and again in 1628. Also town collector in 1615 Bapt. 5 July 1577. There is more on the SORBY family but I hope the above is enough to work out if they are "yours" NICNOLSON ROBERT WOOLLEN of Moorhall, DBY and Gatefields, Sheffield married 23 Oct 1780 HANNAH WILSON of Darnall.[ My wife's 4xgt grandparents] Their eldest daughter REBECCA WOOLLEN was born 16 Sept 1781 and married Sept 1813 one THOMAS NICHOLSON of the Green Lane Works of Sheffield, manufacturer. She died 8 Jan 1830. They had issue. Hope this helps.
