> Hi Margaret I'm not sure where in the world you are researching from, but I too had a record on the IGI that I wanted checking out for accuracy. In fact the record I was especially interested in just gave a birth date (no christening or batch number) and had been submitted by an LDS member. I contacted Sheffield Archives, who in return for a small cheque, photocopied the entry for me. Surprisingly, they found a christening in the Cathedral registers (that gave the same birth date) , and confirmed that the information was accurate. Also the occupation of the father was given too. Overall I was delighted! I think the cost was 35p per photocopy and 35p P&P, so a positive bargain!! I've done this with several other archives , and whilst the price varies, they've always obliged and saved a trip. Hope this is of some help to you best wishes Sally Halesowen > > The IGI has a record of the baptism of Joseph ELLIOTT, son of Richard > and > Sarah, at the Cathedral of St Peter and St. Paul, Sheffield on 27 Oct > 1805. > Could someone confirm this for me please. > > I should also like to know if he married Adelina STRAFFORD there > sometime > between 1825 and 1829 > > Thank you for any help > > Regards > Margaret
