Hello! I'm new to this list and am interested in the families of: PEACOCK, SPURR, SOUTH This is what I know so far: Thomas PEACOCK (b. circa 1806) married to Eliza (b. around same time) and lived in Upper Hallum district of Sheffield, Yorkshire. They had many children: Ann, Thomas, Sarah, Fanny, James, Eliza, Henry, Frederick, Mary, Hannah, and Paul (although I'm not sure all survived past adolescence). Their son, Henry PEACOCK (b. 1840) continued to live in Sheffield and married Elizabeth SPURR (b. 1843) and had three sons: Harry, John Thomas, and Samuel Dunworth. Harry (b. 1865) married Margaret Ann SOUTH and lived in Brightside Bierlow and had three sons of his own (Harry, Frank, Sam). John Thomas (b.1870) married a woman named Sarah and had one son (William). Samuel Dunworth, my great-great-grandfather, immigrated to Ontario, Canada in 1885. If anyone has any information on these people, or may know of any connection to other Peacocks in England, please let me know! Thank you, Grace

Hi everyone I'm post the following surname interests on behalf of a friend in Sheffield who isn't on the net: HARRISON (1842 onwards) - Attercliffe; Brightside. BEECH (1841 onwards) - Catcliffe; Pitsmoor; Nether Hallam. - especially anyone who's male BEECH's married girls from Staffordshire - The Potteries /Kidsgrove/Stoke-On-Trent/Newcastle-Under-Lyme/Silverdale etc; as well as Wednesbury. PEARSON (1837 onwards) - Attercliffe; Nether Hallam - especially anyone who has connections to the PEARSONs who ran the 'New Barracks Tavern' on Penistone Road, Nether Hallam or the 'Local Fields Tavern' on Attercliffe Road. GREGORY (1872 onwards) - Attercliffe. At the moment we've only found details of my friend's ancestry, as outlined above, from 1837 onwards. Regards to all Patrick G Linsley (Bournemouth, Dorset).
Wow, thanks Elaine! I'll look to see if any of those burials have connections to my family. May I ask where you found the burial information? And yes, I'm certain my great-grandfather (not great-great as I mistakenly said before) was Samuel Dunworth Peacock -- or Dungworth. It's a bit schizophrenic, but I suspect he dropped the "g" when he came to Canada. Any reference of him that I've found in England includes the "g" but records here in Canada neglect to include the extra letter. It certainly was confusing when I first came across it! Thanks again for your help!
