    3. Hi, I recently obtained the death certificate for John ROOTSTEN after some wonderful suggestion from Hugh Waterhouse. I am in particular looking for evidence that John ROOTSTEN and Lewis ROOTSTEN are related. On the death certificate dated the 16th July 1878, an L ROOTSTEN is listed on the death certificate as the informant and son of the deceased. However, the marriage certificate of Lewis ROOTSTEN and Sarah COHEN states that his Father was Elijah ROOTSTEN and he was deceased, the marriage certificate is dated 01 Nov 1871 at the Great Synagogue, Manchester. I know both Lewis and John were listed on the 1871 census in Sheffield at separate addresses and Lewis returned to live in Sheffield after his wedding. I know there is a connection between the two men because they are listed in a number of Sheffield Trade directories with the same occupations and addresses. The two addresses on the death certificates for John; 40 West Bar Green and Lewis; 16 Scotland Street were both used as picture framing businesses and Lewis continued to trade/live at these addresses after 1878. There maybe a mistake on the marriage certificate or for some reason he may have wanted to keep his father a secret. John could be an anglicised version of Elijah. Both men are listed as being born in Poland in the Census. So it's not beyond the realms of possibility that John was Lewis's father. I'm wondering if anybody can help me find John's burial place, so that maybe I can find an inscription. I'm not sure if John is Jewish or not and he maybe under Elijah ROOTSTEN/ROOTSTEIN/ROOTSTON. Any help at all will be greatly appreciated.
