hello Karen, If William and Ann were married in Sheffield and they were Anglicans they will almost certainly have been married at the Parish Church (now the Cathedral) - someone may be able to look this up at the Archives where they is a complete index of marriages for this church. It looks as though the marriage should be after the beginning of Civil Registration - I had a quick look at FreeBMD but I could not match a William with a possible Ann B____ (but that index is incomplete). Would it be possible to scan the problem part of the certificate and send it offlist so I can see what I make of it ?! (I won't necessarily do any better!).
