They show up in the 1841 Census as: 1332/11 2 28a Rotherham Well Gate George WORTLEY 50-54 1332/11 2 28a Rotherham Well Gate Nancy WORTLEY 45-49 1332/11 2 28a Rotherham Well Gate George WORTLEY 20-24 1332/11 2 28a Rotherham Well Gate Sarah WORTLEY 13 1332/11 2 28a Rotherham Well Gate Charles WORTLEY 7 Another daughter, Emma, my ggGrandmother was out of the house at the time and residing in South Sheffield where she got married 3 years later. Emma was born in Devonshire when the family was briefly out of county. 1337/5 10 33a Sheffield South Eyre Street Emma WORTLEY 15-19, birth 8 June 1821- 7 June 1826 (pinned down to early 1825 by other data.) Marriages Dec 2, 1844 -------------------------------------------- HAWKES Frederick Sheffield 22 574 Age 23 Batchelor,Brass Founder,Norfolk St. WORTLEY Emma Sheffield 22 574 Age 20 Spinster, Ditto for Norfolk St. I lose track of George and Nancy at this point and would appreciate help in finding later records of them. I did find one death record for a George Wortley: Deaths Mar 1848 - This date may not apply to George, though it puts him at a possible age 59 at death. -------------------------------------- Wortley George Rotherham 22 374 An 1851/61 census report of Nancy Wortley would be most helpful in that it would either confirm or deny that George had passed away by this time. I have been unable to find any birth records for Nancy Kent and her age in the 1851 census would be helpful in pinning down her birth date. Another of their children, Hannah, ch 20 Dec 1821, was not in the 1841 census and I would love to determine her fate as well.
