    3. Hi again Hugh, Tracking this family has really been a job and a half. The baby's father is recorded as Sack Haneff or John Hanniff. He was born in Calcutta, East India. He married Hannah Falkner or Faulkner in Bristol, England. That is where the baby, Daniel Boxale Hanniff was born in 1844. After the baby's death they may have traveled to Leeds, and then to Manchester, Lancastershire, and then back to Bristol. This is where I found them in 1861, In 1871 I found the father, John Hanniff in Bath, Somerset, the mother Hanniff with her aged parents James and Lucy Godwin. Two of the children were found in Industrial Schools in Warwick. Eventually the family ended up in Mandan, North Dakota, America. The best clue I have is that if the last name begins with a "H" and ends with an "F" or two f's. It is possibly our Hanniff's. I do want to thank you for pointing me to the possible location of Daniel's place of death. Many thanks, Ken

    3. Hi Ken, Had done a bit of sleuthing and found those places you mentioned and I wonder.......having just checked a lot of the 1841 census if the family name could be Harris.???? Hanniff just doesn't ring any bells at all. However........ I have looked at the 1881 census for England and found the family in Bristol as you said but I also turned up " Hanifin" as a family name being from Ireland and a Chelsea Pensioner with a son born in New Zealand. So I wonder if your Sack Hanef could be Jack (pet name for John) Hanif and he served in the Army in Calcutta. Just thoughts....... Kindest regards.
