Hi Aileen, I think that the area is known as t'Wicker, as well as having a wide street of that name. Apparently, according to J Edward Vickers, the open area north of the river used to be called Assembly Green (or 'Sembley Green), and was used for an assembly or muster of the yeomen and freeholders with their horse and arms, annually.
