Hi I wonder if someone on the list could help me please. I seem to have 2 blank walls wed to each other, gt gt grandparents and could do with someone taking a fresh look for me, as I may have got to the stage where I can't see the wood for the trees. Marriage cert. states 20th October 1862 Sheffield parish of St Mary county of York Joseph Zacharia PRICE age 22 bachelor, Rank, File cutter address South View Gardens, father Joseph PRICE occ File maker Hannah LIVERSIDGE age 20 spinster address Club Gardens father Aaron LIVERSIDGE, occ Collier Witnesses John and Harriet Helliwell Joseph Z PRICE Born approx 1840, according to marriage cert and burial Wardsend St Phillip's PRICE Joseph 2 Jun 1904 1ct Owlerton Green age 64 However the only Joseph PRICE on 1861 census for Sheffield (about 18 months before his marriage)of the correct age is PRICE Joseph 21 born Manchester 3477 98 119 no 3 court Portabello municiple ward St George he is a lodger unmarried and occ file cutter I have checked the 1861 census for Manchester in order to try and find his father and the only Joseph PRICE I can find is a house painter. I wonder if someone with access to 1851 census would check if either of them were in Sheffield at that time. I am assuming that Joseph's father was still alive at time of marriage and father's occupation would indicate that he was from Sheffield. There is a Joseph PRICE on 1861 census for Sheffield age 44 , he is a German silversmith, not a file maker. Hannah LIVERSIDGE Born approx 1842 LIVERSIDGE Hannah 18 -- On The Sea Nr S Wale 96F 3468 The only Hannah LIVERSIDGE I can find on 1861 census is 18 she is a house servant for Jon Robert WARD Osborne Rd, As her details would have been given by employer the age could be wrong. place of birth Illegible, census transcription 1837 on line states "on the sea" SFHS census index shows "on the sea nr S Wales" I have a download of the census sheet and could forward it to anyone who would like to try to decipher it. I have searched 1837 on line and have found a Hannah LIVERSIDGE but she was born in Doncaster,June quarter 1842, not by the sea as far as I am aware. Also found a Hannah Amelia LIVERSEDGE born Sept quarter Huddersfield, also not by the sea . I wonder if someone with access to 1851 for Sheffield could have a look for this lady and her father please, there is no Aaron LIVERSIDGE on 1861 census index for Sheffield and Rotherham. Please remove me from the email list. I am going on holiday for the rest of the summer and can't handle this much email on the road.
