Hello List, Can anyone throw any light on the workhouse/hospital at Grenoside. I have searched through the South Yorks Asylum fbooks, several times, for a Grandfather, who is said to have come out of there and then drowned himself aged 25 in 1912. I have his death registration and also his burial place in a common grave in Tinsley Park, so know the date is right. I cannot find any record of him being in there at all. I have recently discovered that there was also this place at Grenoside and wonder if this is where he came out of. I have questioned my aunt about it and she says, that my Gran always said that it was Wadsley where he came out of,which I assume was Middlewood or S.Y.A, so the mystery deepens. TIA Carol, Sheffield
