Hi everyone It's a long time since I aired this lady and now I've seen her on yet another census with yet another place of birth, I thought I'd see if anyone can find her. On the 1861 census she's decided she was born in Brightside, Sheffield! Mary Ann appears to have started off life as Mary Ann TAYLOR born around 1823/24. She's been born in Attercliffe, Mexborough and now Brightside! I've had the Attercliffe and Mexborough records checked and she's definitely not there. At some stage she appears to have married a Mr. THOMPSON...she says! By 1846 she's living with Isaac NEEDHAM over in Cutthorpe where she produces 5 children all grew up and carried his name although at least Herbert was registered as Herbert Needham THOMPSON! Then, in 1858 they hop over to Sheffield and marry in the Cathedral and Mary states she's a widow!! On Rootsweb FreeBMD site there's a Mary Ann TAYLOR and a William THOMPSON who married Third Quarter 1844...but, did they marry each other?? There are too many William THOMPSONs who died in Sheffield to even begin to decide which, if any, might be Mary Ann's husband.
