Many thanks to the people who have helped me with the problem of the correct spelling of Bramall Lane. I am still surprised that there are three times as many wrong spellings as right ones. The history of the area that Claire Pearson supplied is interesting to me. White House, Sheaf Lodge, and Sheaf House are all listed on the 1841 census (Piece Number 1337/9. Folio 28a and adjacent folios.) My 3g-grandfather William Naylor lived nearby at the Sheaf Rolling Mill.
