Not satisfied with the slow settlement of Nova Scotia (which also included New Brunswick) at that time. Lieutenant Governor Michael Franklin went to NorthYorkshire in 1769 - 70 to seek immigrants. His efforts prompted the "Yorkshire Immigration" of 1772 -75 when over 1000 settlers left Yorkshire bound for Nova Scotia. A newspaper article from the Sackville Tribune Post gives the names of several of the families from Yorkshire and where they settled in Nova Scotia. Norm
