You'd posted the following from the 1861 census PERKINTON William 45 1815 Sheffield YKS PERKINTON Frances 43 1817 Sheffield YKS PERKINTON Charlotte 15 1845 Sheffield YKS PERKINTON George 14 1846 Sheffield YKS PERKINTON John- 13 1847 Sheffield YKS PERKINTON Sarah 3 1857 Sheffield Now the strange thing is i'm tracing: Charlotte Perkinton born abt 1867 Sheffield William Perkinton born abt 1842 Sheffield Frances Perkinton born abt 1844 Sheffield - same names, different time period. Also my William Perkinton (b 1842) is a table blade forger (listed in the 1871-1901) which i believe is the same occupation as the William Perkinton that you cite, as i've got a copy of the 1871 census for your William. Have you been able to link my William (b 1842) with your William (b 1815)? - i'm hoping they are father and son but i haven't been able to prove this yet, and i was really hoping they would appear together on the 1861 census (my William being 18 years old) but your posting has shown this not to be the case. Can you help? You haven't been able to trace the 1851 census of this family have you? and PS how did somebody living in Australia have links to the Perkintons in Sheffield? Hi Steve, This may not be proof positive but I have it on the authority of a professional genealogist that William b. 1842 is the son of William b. 1816. William b. May 20 1816 married Frances Harland b. 1817 in Sept 1842 in Sheffield. They had the following children William b. 1843 Charlotte b. 1845, George b. 1846, John b. 1848 and Sarah b. 1857. William married Frances Jaques b. 1844 in Sheffield in 1864 at St Johns Park Sheffield. They had the following children. Sarah E. b. 1865, Charlotte b. 1867, William b. 1870, Herbert b. 1871 and George b. 1875. That should cover the 3 people you are interested in. Unfortunately I havent yet come across an 1851 census entry to give proof positive. Perhaps someone out there on the Sheffield site could help ? I come from the other side of the family. William b. 1816 lived with his brother Joshua in 1841 and I am a descendent of him. Where do you fit in ? Cheers Frank -- No virus found in this outgoing message. Checked by AVG Anti-Virus.
