Hello to all, With the help from the 1841 indexers, Ann & Connie, I have found the details about the Alfred Armitage family in Bradfield (Stannington) in the 1841 census. And, that they moved from that area before the 1851 census. If anyone can look for them in the 1851 and 1861 censuses, I would greatly appreciate it. On the 31 Oct 1858 marriage record of Mary Ann, his daughter, Alfred's address is listed as Andrews St., Sheffield. On the 2 Apr 1871 census, Alfred's wife (now widow) is living at 32 Andrew St., Brightside, Brightside Bierlow with two of her sons, Henry and Thomas. She is also at 38 Andrew St. in the 1881 census with the same two unmarried sons. So, my best guess for 1851 would be in Brightside Bierlow with the family being: Alfred Armitage approx. age 35-36 razor blade grinder born in ? Mary Armitage approx. age 35-36 born in Bradfield Henry Armitage approx. age 17 born in Stannington Thomas Armitage approx. age 15 born in Stannington Mary Ann Armitage approx. age 11 born in Stannington There may also be a son Joseph Armitage age 12, I haven't found him in the 1871 census, so I don't know if he is alive in 1851. For the 1861 census, again in Brightside, Brightside Bierlow, at least the following family members should be on Andrew St. Mary Armitage approx. age 45-46 born in Bradfield Henry Armitage approx. age 27 born in Stannington Thomas Armitage approx. age 25 born in Stannington (Andrew may be dead by this time and Mary Ann has married Charles Oliver) Again, thanks for any help you can offer.
