Hi Mavis, Just had a quick look at my Sheffield material and found the only Maria mentioned is on the 1891 census....... Barstow Maria wife M 66 YKS Sheffield 34 Broomhall St 13 40 3815 her husbands name by the way is Elias which I can see being transcribed to read Allan. I have not checked the 1881 census (which I am sure you will have done) to see where this couple where at that time period.....they are NOT on the 1861 census index. My great grandmothers marriage entry at St Michael & All Angels Neepsend had her father down as Samuel Mayo a file cutter. Her father was Robert and a miner so mistakes did happen. Hope this helps.
