    1. Re: Sheffield Watchmaker.
    2. Hi John, Brian Loomes book, 'Watchmakers and Clockmakers of the World' Vol 2, lists: BURRELL, George & J.C. Sheffield 1861-71 (Watchmakers). One or two other BURRELL's dotted around the UK, (Notts, London & Newark) and a John BURRELL in Beverley 1858. Otherwise nothing else. Local trade dirctories and census returns may give more info on them & their business, as often watchamkers lived and worked on their premises. If you can have sent to me some photo's of the watch movement, I may be able to tell you more about it! Small files sizes though please (no bigger than 100Kb - I'm still on a crap BT dial-up PAYG internet access). The watch was probably cracking on for being an antique when your wife's Gt-uncle got hold of it! Hope this helps. Kind regards John Woolsey (Bridlington, East Yorks). ----- Original Message ----- From: "johnelmes" <johnelmes@ozemail.com.au> To: <ENG-SHEFFIELD-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Wednesday, March 30, 2005 1:15 AM Subject: Sheffield Watchmaker. > On a recent trip to Victoria here in Australia one of my wife's cousins > produced a fob watch that had belonged to their grandfather, William > Reginald Smith.
