    3. Hi Mary Ann, I don't have the 1851 census...................which I believe is NOT name indexed........ I have checked the 1861 census index .......Just to see who was in Sheffield called Drummond at that time...... I found the following....... 3488 55 James DRUMMOND 28 SCT Not Stated 3488 55 Ellen E. DRUMMOND 21 YKS Sheffield 3488 55 Samuel DRUMMOND 1 YKS Sheffield 3488 55 Wilfred H.DRUMMOND 1 YKS Sheffield I wonder if James could be a brother to your William. In 1841 (with very few records still to be entered) census index there are NO Drummond's at all, but I would check back later... 3. Hi I've been looking through parish records during 1907 - 1912 at St Bartholomew's Church on Langsett Road and have found relatives living on Strand Street. Please can anyone tell me where Strand Street was located, I've looked on my 1903 maps for Sheffield West and Sheffield Neepsend and just can't find it. Kay

    3. hello Kay, White's 1919/20 directory includes Strand St in its list of smaller street and notes that it is off King Jame's St. From the street directory in the same edition, part of King Jame's St is listed as follows: *King Jame's Street* (Langsett Road) 2-40 even (Rose Street) 42-52 even (Hessle Street) 56-66 (Strand Street) (James Street) 104 (Grammar Street) It is not listed on the 'odd' side of this street. So, if you find King Jame's St on the Neepsend map, moving uphill (North to South) from Langsett Road, this street would have be on the right shortly before Grammar St (but allowing room for a James Street also). Rose Street is marked, but Hessle St, Strand St and James St are not - his is a blank area on the map. There is no mention of Strand Street in the 1901 directory, so it must have been built very soon after the map was published !
