    1. Moore 1841 census
    2. Hello all, I have been off line for quite some time and I believe this will be a short run too. PC problems! I have just looked at the 1841 census and everyone who participated did a wonderful job. I would like to get a bit more information if possible. About four years ago, when I first started looking for my ancestors, I had someone look up my Moore family and they sent me these names for the 1841 census and the address was 38 New St, Park. John Moore head 40 Mary Moore wife 35 Elizabeth 15 William 3 Then someone else wrote that a Benjamin Moore was at the neighbors and tallied there. When I looked at the new site, the family was on Pond St. and the occupants were different. piece no. 1337/4, ed 8, folio 33a, Sheffield South, Pond St. John 40 Mary 40 William 14 Edward 7 James 5 Frederick 1mo Could someone please tell me which one of the entries are correct? I know that the family lived on New St, because my grandfather was born there in 1859. Thank you for any help. Harry Moore in Mt. Dora, Florida

    3. Hi Harry, Glad to see you back at your tree and hope your computer stays active for a while. Thank you for your compliments re the 1841 census everyone that has been involved has worked very hard and long to have it nearly completed........ in a short 5 months. Now to your problem....... Two John Moore's................ piece no. 1337/4, ed 8, folio 33a, Sheffield South, Pond St................. . is correct as transcribed.. John is a file cutter......The census has been checked at least twice so other than the old English script and poor penmanship that was a problem it is as accurate as we could make it. As you will have seen on the index there is NO other 40 year old John more.. .. I have checked the pieces that have to be uploaded to the site and there is no other 40 year old John Moore. There is still one Sheffield Park piece number to be completed and I feel over the next two weeks will be on the site.... Who was your grandfather???? I must have it somewhere? LOL.......but 1859 is 18 years on... I doubt if this family would have still been producing children as Mary was already 40 could have been 44 in 1841. Hope this clear's up you problem......
