Brass theft: Samuel BAGNALL of Penistone Road and Frederick DEAKIN of Beulah Road appeared on court charged with stealing 56lbs of brass from the Silica Fire Brick Co, Oughtibridge. Pint jug weapon: An extraordinary attack by a woman upon her sister occurred in the Woodside Tavern, Woodside Lane. Florence Mary POLLARD of Fowler Street was charged with maliciously wounding her sister Lucy SMITH the wife of James SMITH of Woodside Lane as she was leaving the Woodside Tavern about 11pm. Mrs POLLARD who had not spoken to her sister for over 12 months was the worse for drink and shouting "I am looking for you" she proceeded to strike her sister on the head and neck with a pint jug several times. Mrs SMITH sustained several wounds to the scalp and a wound 4" long to the neck. She was removed to the Royal Infirmary where she had five stitches put in her neck wound. After hearing the evidence, the magistrate reduced the charge to common assult after the prisoner promised to keep off the drink and not to molest her sister again.
