Dear all I wonder if someone can help me with a wedding lookup? I have an ancestor, William SCATCHARD, who married a Sarah in Sheffield on 1 Oct 1730. I could do with finding out which precise church and whether her surname was recorded. For the moment, I'm guessing the Parish Church, but does anyone have access to this register to double check, or a Sheffield-wife index? Many thanks in advance. Matthew

An e-mail to <[email protected]> might get you the information you need: with a specific date and name a look-up by the archivist or staff member shouldn't take too long, and they would also know the dedication of "the parish church". Not sure of their charges, but the e-mail you send could ask this. There is also a phone number 0114 203 9395, but be aware that they close for stocktaking in November. There's a download available (in two formats, Word and pdf) listing the registers which are available.
