Hi List and Nicole, Unfortunately on my last email regarding the McKay conundrum, I wrote re James McKay that he was wrongly listed on the 1851 Sheffield census as McHugh... must have been dreaming... it was actually on the census as McHague. I suppose with a thick Irish Brogue it isn't that far out to suppose that McKay could have been heard by the census taker as McHague. Peculiarly James was also listed as McHague/ McKague! on the 1841 census as well. I apologize for any confusion I may have caused, Kindest Regards, Josephine M. Laxton. p.s I am going to contact Ancestry re the entry as it could not be drawn up by entering James McHague. I got it quite by chance by writing in Andrew McHague (james's son's name) and Sheffield. No wonder we sometimes have trouble finding our Ancestors, they certainly didn't make it easy...
