    3. Hi June and List, re the ongoing thread re McKay and your answer, below, Oh what a tangled web etc etc... I guess you must have tried Kennedy, for Kenn(ey) which came to mind straight away... Apparently my new aquaintance has studied gaelic for 10 years and her grandmother was a McKay. She says that Mc Aodha /Mc Hugh, McKay etc, is the Irish translation of 'son of Hugh'... fascinating. If I can think of any other variations or happen to find the missing Kenneys etc on the relevant censuses, I will certainly inform you and the list. One never knows who else might be looking for them...it's only taken 8 years to track down Great Grandmother Catherine/Kate McKay, so hope springs eternal. Kindest regards, Josephine. ----- Original Message ----- From: "June Chatterton" <[email protected]> To: "Josephine Laxton" <[email protected]>; <[email protected]> Sent: Sunday, June 17, 2007 1:51 PM Subject: Re: [SHEFF] Fw: "James McKay" > Hi Josephine > > I think I have a similar problem with my husband's great grandmother.
