I remember my father talking about those gangs. Although we lived in Chesterfield he used to travel to Sheffield every day to work there, times were very bad. One night he was walking to the bus-stop with a workmate and a gang attacked them, they knew it was their pay-day and the beat the other man up and took his wages.
