The Mooney gang cause a great deal of trouble in Sheffield in the late 1920's. Many sheffield people, including my parents were frightened of them and I believe special hardy policemen were brought in to control them. They ran protection rackets, gambling rackets and in fact anything that caused trouble and brought them illegal money.
