Hello everyone, I have just returned to the List from quite a long absence and, having a look through the archives, I spotted the posting by Dave about "Vernon" WILDGOOSE. Vernon was the illegitmate son of Ann Melland Wildgoose and, as I believe Dave has discovered, his birth was registered as Gerald WILDGOOSE in 1891. Dave tells us that the boy later changed his name to MARSHALL, which was news to me. However, it does make sense as Ann Melland's sister, Mary Jane WILDGOOSE married Robert MARSHALL. I now believe that young Gerald Vernon was "adopted" by this couple who, incidentally, has a daughter Gladys, also born in 1891. If Dave cares to e-mail me off-list, I can give him details of Gerald's ancestor back to the seventeenth century. It's good to be back! K Still on a Wildgoose Chase!
