Hi Philadelphia Gardens in Sheffield lies in an area called Philadelphia where the Rawson family had extensive tanneries in the C19. However there were also houses there as well. On the 1823 map it lies between the General Infirmary and the Hillsborough Barracks on the Peniston Road and later up the road to Crookes Sheffield. If you look at this site you will see the Rawsons who were quite important people who owned the Tanneries. They later became related to the Wight family of Eyam Hall through Marriage. .http://www.genuki.org.uk/big/eng/YKS/WRY/Sheffield/index.html You didn't mention a name so It was not possible to look up the family. regards JUDY ELKINGTON [W.R.Yorkshire, England] www.elkingtonfamily.com [email protected] www.one-name.org/profiles/elkington.html
