    1. [SHEFF] Sheffield Blitz - looking for Vera GREENHALGH/WILSHAW
    2. Sue
    3. I'm new to this list and hope SKS can help. Vera's brother and sister lived in Rotherham & Yorkshire respectively but are no longer with us. Apparently he said that his elder sister Vera died in the Sheffield Blitz in 1940, possibly in Maples Hotel. Her sister never mentioned Vera that we know of. I've 'googled' but cannot find any reference to Vera in the casualties listed on the internet. Apparently there is a communal grave for the casualties although she may not have been in the hotel. Any 'suspect' Vera's may be a 'hit'. If there is anyone out there who can find anything about Vera GREENHALGH I'd be very grateful. She was born in Cheshire in 1909 and disappeared after 1929/30. It is not known whether or not she married but if not she may go by the name of Vera GREENHALGH or Vera WILSHAW. After Vera's mother died in 1918 all 6 of the children were 'adopted' by family and were known as WILSHAW hence the uncertainty about Vera's surname. After knowing nothing of 5 of the 6 children only Vera is now proving elusive. Fingers crossed there's someone out there that can find Vera! Thanks for any help, Best wishes Sue/Manchester UK
