Hi all. Gave me quite a turn seeing WOOLLEN in a question which has been answered. My interest is because my wife's gt gt gt grandmother was one Elizabeth Woollen wife of William Smith of Dam House, Barrister etc. Elizabeth's father was Robert Woollen, originally of Derbyshire. He moved to Sheffield and held land at Gatefields - there are a number of streets in that area that are named after the Woollen family that have now disappeared. I am away from home at this time and could send you a copy of a "Gatefields" write up when I get home next week - I think I sent Hugh a copy some years ago. It comes as the final part of a writeup of the lifetime of the William Smith above. From memory I think the Woollen home became a pub when the Gatefields area was developed. Best regards to all.
