Hi Robert, Two observations...... Is there anything on the James marriage entry ( who married in London I presume) that mentions who his father is? Have you seen the actual entry.... If there were two James Goodison's born about the same time I would make trees up for both boys and see where it leads you. Up to 1846 there were very few C of E Churches in Sheffield. Making it easier to search. Did London James have his children baptised in the Anglican church? What was the first sons name? that could be a lead. When did James appear in London? Could he have gone there to learn how to make the musical instruments? Where is he in 1841? There are a large number of Goodisons in Sheffield which doesn't make it easy. I found on Eric Youles apprenticeship site........both William & David mentioned. http://youle.info/history/cutlers/p217.GIF I can't see a James for either William or David. Will see what else I can find.
