Hi everyone! AT LAST! The update to the YKS Surnames List you have all been so patiently waiting for since the end of November. I cannot apologize too much for the delay but trust that my computer problems are over for a long, long time. For a change, there were not very many email address changes. Please remember to tell me when you change your email address. If you don't and your email is reported as bouncing, I delete every single submission bearing the offending address and you have no choice but to resubmit each and every one. There is no form for this and I am happy to do it for you. Just remember to send me both your *old* and your *new* email addresses *in the body of the text*. There follows a list of those individuals whose emails have bounced and whose submissions have been deleted. Remember, to examine any of these or to search the database itself, just go to the URL given below with my signature and click on the letter-box that should contain the surname you are interested in. You will be taken to a sub-index page; use your *Find* tool and click on EMAIL next to the submitter's name to obtain his/her email address. The number that appears in brackets next to a name in the list of new surnames indicates the number of different individuals who have submitted this surname at this time, not the number of times that surname appears in the database as a whole. To submit surnames, please carefully read the instructions that are given on the Home Page, at the above URL. More and more ISPs are refusing the form that we provide. If this happens to you, please follow the instructions for Manual submissions. You can submit several surnames in a single email this way, an added advantage to both of us. To the more recent subscribers to the lists on which this update is posted, a gentle reminder that this is only a database of surnames, for Yorkshire only (no matter whether they appear elsewhere in the UK or worldwide). It is totally free of charge and is a service I am happy to provide. As a database, however, there is no provision for asking questions or providing information, so please don't try - the proper place for questions and answers is one of the Yorkshire gen lists.
