Hi Dave, I have found a Benjamin Marsden who was 31 in the 1851 census, (so born about 1820) living in Upper Heeley. He was born in Sheffield and working as a Grinder. I wonder if he was a brother to your Thomas Marsden? Benjamin named a son Thomas, but that's hardly conclusive evidence. Both are buried at Heeley Christ Church - Benjamin in 1859 at the age of 41 and two sons, Thomas and Herbert, in 1861. They lived at Warburton's Yard, London Road. Do you have access to any information that might indicate whether Thomas had siblings? Happy new year! He was the son of George and Maria (formerly RODGER, a widow when they married). Thomas was a Razorsmith. His father George was a Silversmith/Scissorsmith. Thomas married Priscilla COGGIN 13 Aug 1838 in the Sheffield Parish Church. Priscilla died 5 Sep 1850. Subsequently, Thomas married Elizabeth HAZLEWOOD in 1868 at St Jude, Eldon, Sheffield. Prior to Priscilla's death (well, it hardly could be afterwards!) they had 3 children: William (possible birth registration Sep 1/4 1838 Ecclesall Bierlow) Elizabeth (born 16 Oct 1841) Mary (possible birth registration Mar 1/4 1848 Ecclesall Bierlow) If anyone out there is connected to either William or Mary, I'd love to hear from you. In exchange, I can provide a lot of information about Elizabeth and her descendancy. And even if not, Happy New Year to the rest of you! Dave in frigid northern Illinois
