The major work is the installation of a new ventilation system (they are probably calling it 'climate control' or something equally technologically impressive). They are also taking the opportunity to upgrade the cataloguing system. A significant proportion of the lengthy closure is for physically removing all the records, stock-taking as they go, and bringing them back afterwards.
