    1. [SHEFF] Young Mitchell, Headmaster of the Sheffield School of Arts
    2. John Elmes
    3. Firstly why my interest. Young Mitchell's second wife was Mary Elizabeth Smith, a daughter of William Smith of Dam House and as such she is a gt gt gt aunt of my wife. I have just copied out Young Mitchell's probate record and it states he is:- "late of Sheffield and died 2 May 1865 at Wye House, Boxton, Derbyshire" Can anyone help me with what function Wye House performed - a hospice perhaps. His will was proved 23 May 1865 at Wakefield by:- "Mary Elizabeth Mitchell of Priory Villas, Sharrow Lane, Sheffield, widow, relict and sole executor." Would Priory Villas be church organized or what? Any help would be much appreciated. Incidentally Young Mitchell's occupation is stated as Artist and his estate is "under 3,000 pounds" not bad for an artist and teacher.Mary Elizabeth died in 1904 - she outlived her husband by some 39 years. They were married for 11 years. John Elmes in Sunny S E Queensland
