Although this is out of our area, I wonder if anyone has come across this lady? Alice Holbrook Cooper. After many years of researching, I finally found a sibling of my late father in law. We never knew that he had any relatives as he was brought up in a childrens home in Rotherham. I found that he had several siblings who died young, including a half sister named Alice Holbrook Cooper, born in Swinton. Unfortunately it was the registration of her death that I found in 1995, aged 89. She died in The Nook nursing home in Huddersfield. I have written twice to the owner of the home, who was also the informant on the death certificate, to the address of the home and also to her home address, but she chooses not to reply to me. Both times I enclosed stamped addressed envelopes and a history and proof of who I was. All I wanted was a little information, if she had any, about the life of Alice. I feel very disappointed that after 20 years of difficult research, it has come to a stop like this. I wondered if Huddersfield social services would help me, although it probably comes under the privacy laws, but if anyone has any experience of anything like this, I would welcome any advice. I wrote to the Huddersfield Examiner who printed my letter and I had one reply from a Holbrook but nothing further has come from this. Thanks, Carol Cooper
