Hi all, My GUITE relatives lived at Birley Carr and Wadsley Bridge untill the 1960s and were regular attendees at the Birley Carr Methodist Chapel. I am trying to flesh out my knowledge of them and their lives so I would be very interested to hear from any listers who also have connections there. A cousin has just sent me a photocopy of a group photo of the youth group or perhaps Sunday school of the chapel from the early 1900s with a list of the subjects. Hannah MAYES Eveline GUITE Mabel HAWLEY Charley COCKER Fred FLINDERS Billie WILSON Alf SMITH Billie GODBER The age of the group appears to be late teens to very early 20s. One of the girls married in March quarter 1912 so I put the photo as about 1911. If anybody has these names in their tree please contact me. I might be able to arrange for the original to be scanned.
