Hi I am trying to find out about my ancestor William Siddall his occupation was shoemaker, on the 1841 census it says his birth place was foreign parts, I was told by older family members that he was born abroad, but a later census says birthplace Sheffield. His wife was 'Elizabeth' and I know they had a daughter Sara born abt 1825. Any advice would be appreciated kind thanks Caroline
Hi Caroline, As a Siddall researcher I had a look for your William on the Sheffield 1841 census and was unable to find him. Siddall being a fairly common name in the area many having been incomers from Derbyshire could you tell us where you found him in 1841 please and the reference. Thanks Elaine in Ottawa.
