    3. I would like to thank all those who came to Phil's funeral and made it such a memorable and moving tribute to his life. The attendance was such that they had to swap us to a larger chapel and there were still people standing at the back. We felt very much touched that so many people wanted to support us and remember Phil. The service was amazing with the fantastic tributes from his friends and colleagues, which were a great comfort to us. My only regret is that there were so many people there that I did not get to meet everyone and thank them in person for coming but we were very grateful. Thanks also to those who sent messages, these were very much appreciated. Janet, Chris, Meri and all the family. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Researching Relatives" <researchingrelatives@blueyonder.co.uk> To: <eng-sheffield@rootsweb.com> Sent: Monday, May 17, 2010 11:15 PM Subject: Re: [SHEFF] Phillip Ford 1959-2010 RIP > As promised, details of Phil's funeral. > > There will be a humanist service at 1pm at Grenoside crematorium on > Wednesday 26th May 2010, followed by a reception at the Thorncliffe arms, > Warren lane, Chapeltown. > > Anyone who knew Phil is very welcome to come and join us in celebrating > his > life. > > Janet Ford quotes in the subject and the body of the message

    1. [SHEFF] Marriage of Thomas Bird
    2. John Bird
    3. Hi I am trying to find date of marriage of Thomas Bird, born Wolverhampton on 3 August 1779 and also surname of his wife. He married a Mary -surname unknown. The Bird family moved from Wolverhampton to Sheffield circa 1800 to 1808. Thomas and Mary's 3 sons William born Jan 1808, Samuel 180 and George 1820 were born in Sheffield. I have through IGI identified possibilities at Kilnsea and Scriven but I thought given their localities they appear unlikely. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. 3. Hi Janet Thank you. This is definitely the family of John Albert enrolling his two daughters at school. I've looked up the birth registrations for the two girls, Florence Hilda and Lilian which tally with birth dates given on the enrolments. I've also found and ordered a marriage certificate which fits in with their having been married for 16 years. John Albert's age is the only query but it is possible I suppose he married an older woman and increased his age for appearance's sake. I will know when the marriage certificate arrives. Many thanks again. 3. Hi Carol Thank you so much for the census details. Heeley fits in as he was there in 1891 with his parents. Definitely the John Albert enrolling his children. I just need to be sure he is MY John Albert. I have ordered the marriage certificate of a John Albert marrying Florence Styring which should give his father's name and therefore confirm this or not. Many thanks again. 2. Thank you all who replied to my April 29th posting entitled Bennett/e Bond, Mellor, Marsden in Sheffield last week. I've been busy checking all the census info, looking at the maps of West Bar, and Ebenezer Square, and am now ready to go to the Sheffield site, and the one about the plague for Eyam that was recommended. Thank you all again for your help & directives of where else to look. Appreciate it all ~ Kris Burrill
