    3. Is there one person on the list that could find time to help us with the checking of the 1841 census please. It would be "most" beneficial if you know the area and local names etc...... We have 10 piece numbers waiting to be checked and Ray Colley and myself are finding it hard to keep up with the transcribers.............keep going guys you are a great bunch. So please if you are able to give some time to it we would be very grateful. Thanks Elaine in Ottawa. Sheffield Indexers. -- No virus found in this outgoing message. Checked by AVG Anti-Virus. 3. hello Sylvia ! Well this brick wall looks strangely familiar :-) A warm welcome to the list (have you been here before - I remember the 'good' old days on YORKSGEN). I notice you have a 'new' birthdate for Lilian. Where does this date come from ? A possible entry from FreeBMD is: Births Jun Qtr 1891 Hague Lilian Sheffield 9c 565 I have the baptisms for Christ Church, Heeley (published by SDFHS). There are two Lily HAGUEs but they don't look too hopeful: 11/04/1894 Lily [dau of] Harry & Mary Hague 39 Carter Road Spoon and Fork Finisher 9/1/1895 Lily [dau of] Tom & Emily Hague 110 Cambridge Road Pen and Pocket Blade You say 'christened in Ecclesall Bierlow' - do you mean (birth) registered in EB (which would be consistent with Heeley), or do you have evidence of baptism at a church - All saints Ecclesall, or another in the area) ? I'm not sure exactly where, but it is somewhere around the Sheffield area, I did hear Heeley/Healey (not sure which one) and she was christened in Eccelsall-Bierlow, Sheffield. I'm also struggling to find her marriage. She married Thomas William Wright in about 1908 (she was supposed to have been 17 at the time) in the Sheffield area. 3. Hi Everyone, I'm researching my GGG Grandparents Mary Ann Gascoigne ROBERTS nee JEWITT (b 1802 d 1882) and John ROBERTS (b abt 1799 d July 1855). They and their children all appear to all have been born in Sheffield. John was a cutlery manufacturer. I would love to hear from anyone that may have a similar interest. I think that I may have found Mary on the 1871 census (living in Nth Meols) however her occupation is shown as 'Int Money Indian Coupons'. Does anyone know what this means? Thanks Craig Murray in Melbourne, Australia

    3. Hello Listers I think I have said thank you individually but just in case I missed anyone out - thank you to everyone who responded to my request. My G Grandfather was station master as Sheffield Midland from the age of 26. This means that the family story that he was the youngest station master of his time is probably true. 2. Michael Bailey
    3. Re my family possible(?) association with a business on Dunlop St, Carbrook.I think that a trump card has again been played by Hugh who found a "cowkeeper" at 310 Dunlop St, a John BAILEY. My paternal g.father, who I never knew, was called Jack! The family were also reputed to have grazing on what is now Meadowhall. All coincidences but they seem to come together! I left Carbrook in 1950, at age 11, but remember a Nadin who I think also kept pigs. TI think they lived down a courtyard opposite our house. Many thanks Hugh, another memory for my biography. 1. ROBERTS JEWITT GASCOIGNE BOOKER
    2. A. Treweek
    3. Craig. What a coincidence it was only yesterday that I was asked for my opinion on Mary Ann Gascoigne JEWITT. Maxine Weather from Sheffield is researching this family. She had found the marriage certificate which only gave her name as Mary Ann Gascoigne, and the various census were she is listed as Mary A.G.ROBERTS. She then found a baptism in 1802 for Mary Ann Gascoigne daughter of John and Mary (I think it was Mary) JEWITT in 1802 and she asked my opinion on this, given that one of the sons had a middle name of JEWITT, I came to the conclusion that the incumbant who married them had missed JEWITT off the certificate thinking that Gascoigne was her surname. She will be at the archives next Wednesday and if it is alright with you I will pass your email to her. I'm not sure if she is on the internet, but I know she uses it at the archives. Kind Regards Angela (LEE) Eckington U.K.

    2. Elaine Pickard
    3. Hi Sylvia, I belive she is on FreeBMD's..........as quoted below. Births Jun 1897 Hague Lilian Ecclesall B. 9c441 So she should be on the 1901 census also........... Many of the URL's for you to start searching are to be found on our Web Site attached to this mailing list.... http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~engsheffield/ Free BMD's & the 1901 census are there for sure. Once you have her family from the 1901 census you can trace them back on the 1881 census and if you ask on list quoting the 1901 census information we can look for them on the 1891 census. Have fun...... Elaine in Ottawa. -- No virus found in this outgoing message. Checked by AVG Anti-Virus. Version: 7.0.300 / Virus Database: 265.8.6 - Release Date: 2/7/2005

    3. Hello Gerard, Welcome to the Sheffield list. I have just checked the IGI for you and the following baptism is listed at St. Nicholas' Church, High Bradfield, Robert RANDALL Bap: 24th May 1812 Father: John RANDALL I have just checked my 1841 & 1851 Census CDs for Bradfield and there aren't any RANDALL'S listed at all, I have also checked the Indentures of the Pauper Children of Bradfield CD and again no RANDALL's listed, the family must have moved from Bradfield Parish prior to 1841. Hope this helps a little?
