Patrick I had the same problem, you have to reverse the box colours on the colour pallette. Select black for the box and white for the text this worked for me.It only happens with XP Regards Angela (LEE) Eckington U.K.
Hi everyone Sorry that this is a bit off-topic! I have Generations 8.5 as my family tree software. I am having problems in printing out family tree charts. The charts colour schemes look OK on the screen, but when I print them out, the boxes are always black. (I'm running XP). Anyone else had this problem and how did they sort it out? You can always reply to my off-list. Many thanks Patrick
Hello, I have had help from the members of this list before and I am appealing for your assistance once again. Could someone find Charles J TUNNICLIFFE born 1847 in Ashbourne,Derbyshire on the 1851 or 1861 census. I am trying to find his parents and any siblings. I would be most grateful. Thanks Lesley(in Birmingham)

After many years using Generations and having updated my computer, I couldn't buy the update as there are now none to be had. I have had to buy a different programme which does nearly the same but not nearly as well. I think Windows XP is the problem. Sorry but I can't help you sort it. If anyone has a spare Generations update disc I would be pleased to try it and possibly buy it. Cheers Judy Elkington
Elaine Dore is not included in the 1861 Archive CDB discs for Derbyshire. I found One Deborah in the 1851 index but probably the wrong one as she is already 64. Hodgkinson, Deborah,64, ,2152, 106 ,77 Hodgkinson,Anne,25,,2152,106,77 piece no 2152 covers Glossop. Angela (LEE) Eckington U.K.

If this is the site you are using, then perhaps you are not using it in the right way. You must have bought at least £5. units so lets see if we can help you. Could you give us the right name for one of your brothers or sisters and the year they were born. If you know what town they were born in that would also make a difference. I am sure that if you can do this we could help you. Best wishes JUDY ELKINGTON _www.elkingtonfamily.com_ (http://www.elklingtonfamily.com/) ELKINGTON-L@rootsweb.com
Hi All First of all my thanks to Jeremy for allowing himslef to be persuaded to look after the list while I've been walkabout. The ongoing 1871 Sheffield census name index has just been updated with another 6,500+ name details. Theres now over 31,000 name entries in the index. Access it on the Genuki website at http://www.genuki.org.uk/big/eng/YKS/Misc/Census/Sheffield1871/ Thanks to those of you who have sent suggestions regarding the index. The homepage text has now been amended to take in some of the suggestions. Other suggestions are being carried out and will be added later. Please keep sending your suggestions and advice, it all makes for a more informative webpage / index. As you will see by the number of entries added so far, the index is plodding along nicely considering the small number of transcribers participating in its creation. If anyone has access to the available 1871 census / fiche and is willing to offer assistance towards completing the index by transcribing for just a couple or so hours a week, please get in touch with me. Every little bit of transcribing helps no matter how much or how little you are able to do. Your help will be greatly appreciated by all who will use the index. Hi Keith, I presume you mean the 1841 census.......... There is an Alfred? Cooper listed on it, could he be your man?????? http://www.sheff-indexers.thewholeshebang.org/1841census/ Bramall Lane area had been indexed and is on the site..........but the above chap is on Queen Street. In the event that you did need the 1941 census......so do we all..... but I don't think there was one due to the War...... Regards. Elaine in Ottawa. -- No virus found in this outgoing message. Thankyou to Ann, Judy and Pete for the information. Still a mystery, as Richard showed his father as Robert, a bricklayer on his marriage in 1856 Is anyone researching GOOD? Hope to find some connection (marriage?) between the 2 names. Does anyone have access to the 1851 Census? Looking for Richard Raven, who would be 18. Thankyou Christine Perth WA
hello Caroline, Surprisingly I couldn't find a bicycle making business listed in the directories for 1901 (online) or 1919/20 (on disk), although there are related occupations. Bicycle making may be an off shoot of someone's main business. Just for interest I looked to see what bicycle related occupations there were in Sheffield in 1891 - here is a list: bicycle manufacturer bicycle manufacturers labourer bicycle maker 8 bicycle maker's apprentice bicycle spoke maker 5 bicycle spoke butter bicycle spoke header 2 bicycle spoke wiper bicycle tyre maker bicycle tyre fitter 3 bicycle tire roller bicycle tyre brazier bicycle tyre grinder bicycle wheel maker bicycle rim maker foreman bicycle rim dept bicycle handle buffer 2 bicycle & umbrella handle wiper (female) bicycle wire maker bicycle smith bicycle fitter 3 works in bicycle shop dealer in piano & bicycles bicycle salesman A search of a wider selection of directories might turn up a business in the Broad Lane area.
