Certainly not there by 1881. That's the best I can do I am afraid. Kindest regards. Elaine in Ottawa. -- No virus found in this outgoing message. Checked by AVG Anti-Virus. 2. Hugh Waterhouse
    3. hello Aileen, Can't tell you about 1924 precisely, but in the 1919/20 White's Directory, there is a Mrs Ellen Andrews listed at 190 Hanover St in the street directory. There is nothing to indicate it might be a shop (though there is a shopkeeper at no. 188). In the alphabetical list of people, there is a Mary WOODWARD listed as a shopkeeper at 38 Brocco St. Hugh in Sheffield ----- Original Message ----- From: "Aileen Furness" <furness@westnet.com.au> To: <ENG-SHEFFIELD-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Wednesday, May 11, 2005 3:02 AM Subject: [SHEFF] Another Woodward query. > I am interested to see if there was a shop at 190 Hanover Street in 1924 and if so, how long Mary Woodward had resided at the place. The family were all indexed under Berkerall but although the writing in the census is very blurred they are definately Butterills (when magnified) in my opinion. 3. Hi I could do with more detail to help find these people, such as their parents names and occupations and what family groups they might be in? I found a Mark Hirschfield living in Gateshead on the 1891 with his wife Dorothy - do you think that might be your Mark Hearfield, if the enumerator had a problem with the different accent? Janet

    1. HODGKINSON
    2. John Davison
    3. Hi List I'm trying to track down where my g.g.grandfather LEVI HODGKINSON (or Hodkinson) was on the night of the 1851 Census. He wasn't at home at Dove Houses, in Ecclesall Bierlow, with his wife, Elizabeth and four children! Does anyone have any Sheffield or Derbyshire 1851 census info on him? Age about 35. He was a brewer at the time from Elizabeth's census entry. Possibly brewing beer at Uncle (?) JOSHUA HODGKINSON and Aunt(?) MARIA's beerhouse at Millhouses? If so that could confirm a family tie. Has anyone got details of the 1851 census for the HODGKINSON's at Millhouses nr Sheffield. If so that would be very much appreciated. I think Millhouses was just in Derbyshire in 1851. Best regards John

    2. Dick
    3. I have used Ancestry for a long time, but i'm having trouble locating a few people on the census records ( as those of you that use it will know their indexing has been terrible). Basically i'm asking if anyone can come up with these people on the 1901: Mary Ellen HEARFIELD born Hull c1888 John William PERCIVAL born Sheffield c1899 and Emily BUTTERILL born Sheffield c1900 Also on the 1891: Mark HEARFIELD born Hull c1867 I can't find any decent matches for them, if anyone else comes up with any ideas i'd be very grateful. Cheers Dick
