    3. Hi Keith, The only way you will find out the fathers name is if either you give Rachel s fathers name (Richard ) and say you don't want the certificate unless it is. If you are paying with an English cheque they will return it to you if it isn't Richard. OR. You buy the certificate. Another way around this is to check Ecclesfield Parish Church parish registers and see if you can spot a baptism. Ecclesfield has been filmed and indexed and you will be able to get them in Leeds at the LDS there. Hope this helps. Elaine in Ottawa. -- No virus found in this outgoing message. 3. I only tried to buy a certificate direct from Sheffield Register Office once and they took an age to get back to me. It turned out I had forgotten to sign the cheque I enclosed (doh!) but it took them a month to inform me of this and send it back. 3. Cowboy Boots Anyone who has ever dressed a child will love this one! Did you hear about the Texas teacher who was helping one of her kindergarten students put on his cowboy boots? He asked for help & she could see why. Even with her pulling and him pushing, the little boots still didn't want to go on. Finally, when the 2nd boot was on, she had worked up a sweat. She almost cried when the little boy said, "Teacher, they're on the wrong feet." She looked and sure enough, they were. It wasn't any easier pulling the boots off than it was putting them on. She managed to keep her cool as together they worked to get the boots back on, this time on the right feet. He then announced, "These aren't my boots." She bit her tongue rather than get right in his face and scream, "Why didn't you say so?" like she wanted to. And, once again she struggled to help him pull the ill-fitting boots off his little feet. No sooner they got the boots off and he said, "They're my brother's boots. My Mom made me wear 'em." Now she didn't know if she should laugh or cry. But, she mustered up the grace and courage she had left to wrestle the boots on his feet again. Helping him into his coat, she asked, "Now, where are your mittens?" He said, "I stuffed 'em in the toes of my boots." Her trial starts next month .

I have been into the Leeds office for birth and marriage certificates and given them information to check, if they come back and say yes the information you gave me is correct then I buy the certificate. If on the other hand they say the information you have given does not correspond with the birth or marriage cert, then I know that I have not found my family member and would not buy the cert. Is this how it works in Sheffield? I have sent a letter to the registrars office in Sheffield to ask them to confirm or deny the info I have given before I purchase the certificate but they have not answered my letter. Would anybody on the list be willing to check for me if they ever go to the registrars office? I would be willing to do lookups for anybody if they have connections with Leeds. 2. Jeremy Crawshaw
    3. Hello List, I've just had an e-mail from my mum to tell me about a play that a friend of hers is in that's about to be performed in July with a Sheffield interest and thought that list members in Sheffield (or surrounding areas) might be interested in it as well, see below, The MAZE THEATRE presents two plays about St. Vincent's, Solly Street and The Sheffield Gang Wars. "GOD AND GANGSTERS" - 7pm, Friday 1st July at The Red House Pub, Solly Street and 7 pm, Saturday 2nd July at St. Vincent's Catholic Men's Club, Solly Street. Both plays are presented on both nights and admission is FREE, but a collection will be made in aid of a local children's charity. Sounds like it will be two good nights of entertainment. As there are two ways to do this it is important to say which one. I presume that you mean the one with _www.1837online.com_ (http://www.1837online.com) and not with Ancestry.co.uk Someone with access could check it for you if you give the name and details of who you are looking for.
