I have the following as children of Joseph and Mary FROST with birth dates: Sarah abt. 1838 Frederick 1840 Emma 1844 Arthur (my G Grandfather) 26 May 1847. His birth certificate has mother's name as "Mary FROST formerly YEARDLEY" Frank 1849 Some of my information on the FROST name has come from censuses, but I haven't seen all of the censuses yet, and haven't looked for Mary YEARDLEY there yet. Also I don't have a record of when Mary YEARDLEY died. The death certificate for Joseph shows that he died at Spital Houses, Wentworth 1 Sep 1889 age 79. Occupation: gardener. He may well have worked on the Wentworth Woodhouse estate as my G Grandfather was born at Hoodhill Lodge, Wentworth. Can anyone tell me where I might find records and photographs from Wentworth Woodhouse? and does Hoodhill (or Hood Hill) Lodge still exist? Graham Bedford

Graham Rotherham & Sheffield archives have photo's & records, more from Sheffield than Rotherham. Also you can buy a book called in & around Thorpe Hesley & Wentworth which as plenty of pictures of the village & of the people who lived there. Hello I have often seen the names you are researching on the records I am researching at Rotherham archives, which are at Rotherham library - well worth a visit, but you have to book in advance to get on a film reader. If you go into the search engine Google and type in Rotherham Family History Society, you should get onto the site where there are some photos of Wentworth Woodhouse. It is supposed to be the largest stately home in England with 365 rooms. I wonder if any of your Frosts and Yeardleys married any Smiths of Wentworth, as my great grandfather was one of a large family. He was Joseph Smith, baptised in 1832 in Wentworth and married Emily Dobson, but I have as yet not located their marriage. I still have a second cousin, who shares my great grandfather, still living in the family home, which has been their home since about 1891. Of course, the house is owned by the Wentworth Park Trust. It is a lovely unspoiled village as no modern development has been allowed.
