Pat (and other Listers) You asked if any of the FROST and YEARDLEY names married a SMITH of Wentworth, but I'm afraid that my so far very incomplete research hasn't come up with any. I think I have identified the siblings of my FROST ancestors, but there are only two marriages of which I am aware: Emma FROST b. 1844 (daur. of Joseph FROST & Mary YEARDLEY) married Henry WALLER. On the 1891 and 1901 censuses they are shown living at Spittle/Spittall Houses, Wentworth. My grandfather Fred FROST and his elder brother William Joseph FROST married two sisters from Hamilton, Lanarkshire - Jane and Mary TWADDLE. My father's cousin tells me that they met at a conference of the Brethren Church in Carlisle. Both brothers were miners in the Wentworth area in 1891. Later William kept the post office and greengrocers in Thorpe Hesley, and my grandfather eventually (I don't know when) became a nurseryman at Ackworth, Pontefract. He had left the Brethren Church in the early 1900s after having spent some time as a missionary in Barbados. This hasn't been any help for you with the SMITH name, but I would be interested if anyone on the list has any information on the Brethren Church on the Rotherham area.
