Hi all For anyone who orders their certificates online for family research , here's a newsletter I received from a company I've used in the past: ----- Original Message ----- From: Researchinuk@aol.com Sent: Saturday, March 22, 2003 7:15 PM Subject: Research UK RESEARCH UK (website address: http://www.research-uk.co.uk/) March 2003 NEWSLETTER INCREASE IN GOVERNMENT CHARGES FOR CERTIFICATES We have been advised by the UK Government that the price of birth, marriage and death certificates will be rising in price as from the end of March by .50 pence each. This will bring prices up to 9.oo GB pounds for a full reference, 10.oo GB Pounds for a two year search. We have not added any extra to their increase on these even though our costs have risen. All prices can be seen on our website -please note customers with us prior to 1st March 2003 will not be charged these new prices until after 25th March so any order received up to the 25th will be charged at the old prices. BIRTH, MARRIAGE and DEATH INDEXES As from 1st April you will find these indexes for the years 1837 to 2001 are searchable on-line. This means that you will no longer have to travel to your local centre to look these up and make searches. When you found your reference you can return to order it at our order page. There will be a small charge for the searches but the company putting them on line is a reputable long standing business. If you go to www.1837online.com today you can download the required viewer for free and take up their offer of looking at a sample page. Once you have downloaded the viewer you can zoom in and out to see those difficult to read references. We will be adding a link to this website on our main site. FOUND AN ENTRY Having found an entry do NOT CHANGE what you have found -do not add or take away names to what you think they should be! What you find in the GRO Indexes or on the FreeBMD is what will be on the the certificate and a correct name is what makes your order go through smoothly. IF YOU ADD or TAKE AWAY names that are shown then these may be overlooked by our researchers as we ONLY check that the reference provided is correct and any additions or ommisions in names may end up with the application being declined at Southport certificate preparation centre.
